2007/02/08 e+Calculu∫

e+Calculu∫ is the first in a series of workshops organized by the JEM, Joining Educational Mathematics, Thematic Network and supported by the eContentPlus EU program. WebALT members will participate both in the organization and in the program. e+Calculus will focus on the special topic of Calculus teaching through new technologies and will be the right opportunity to discuss how the teaching of Calculus has changed in the past years and how we envision it will change in the future.

2006/11/30 WebALT Presentation at Online Educa Berlin

Olga Caprotti will present the results of the WebALT project during the session "Innovative Online Learning Tools and Services" at the forthcoming Online Educa Berlin conference on November 30, 2006. The talk on "Multilingual Delivery of Online Tests in Mathematics" is scheduled to take place in room "Tiergarden" at approximately 15:00.

2006/11/29 Second WebALT Conference and Exhibition (Program)

The final program for the Second WebALT Conference and Exhibition has been published. The final event organized to showcase the results of the Web Advanced Learning Technologies project (EDC-22253) takes place as a Online Educa pre-conference Workshop on November 29 2006 in Berlin. Do not miss it if you are interested in e-learning technologies for teaching mathematics.

2006/08/15 CMDE 2006 Invited Session

WebALT and JEM are sponsoring an invited session on Communicating eMathematics for Learning during the forthcoming ICM satellite event CMDE2006. CMDE will take place in Aveiro, Portugal, on August 15--18, just before ICM. Provisional speakers for the invited session on eLearning are Thomas Banchoff, Olga Caprotti, Douglas Meade, and Sebastian Xambó.

2006/08/22 ICM 2006 International Congress of Mathematicians

WebALT will have an exhibition booth during ICM 2006, more exactly stand 25 in area B. Set some time aside to visit us in Madrid between August 22-30.

2006/05/19 Online Educa Madrid

Last chance today to visit the exhibition stand of our partner Maths for More at booth 3 in Hotel Auditorium where Online Educa is taking place in Madrid. Daniel Marques will be happy to tell you about their products for computational mathematics, like the Wiris OpenMath editor used on our results pages, and the work they are currently doing within WebALT.

2006/05/17 Maths for More at Online Educa Madrid

Our consortium partner Maths for More will be among the exhibitors during the upcoming Online Educa in Madrid on 17-19 May, 2006. Visit them to know more about WIRIS and about their contributions to WebALT.

2006/04/06 Open WebALT Seminar at EPFL

An Open WebALT seminar will take place during the project's 5th progress meeting at EPF in Lausanne on 6 April, 2006. The seminar will take place at the Bernoulli center in room AAC 006. The experiences in using Maple T.A. at EPFL and of using Mumie at TUB will be among the subjects of some of the presentations. Virtual attendance can be arranged upon request.

2006/03/15 ProgLog Seminar at Chalmers

Jordi Saludes, a WebALT member from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, will speak during the Proglog seminar in room 5453 Rännvägen 6, Chalmers on Wednesday, 15 March 2006, at 13.15 am. The title of his presentation is Generating natural language for mathematical exercises.

2006/01/12 WebALT Exhibition at the Joint Mathematics Meetings

WebALT boothThe WebALT project and its spinoff company Oy WebALT Inc. are exhibiting during the Joint Mathematics Meetings (AMS 2006) in San Antonio, Texas on January 12-15, 2006. O. Caprotti, W. Ng'ang'a, M. Seppälä and S. Xambó will be present during those days and ready to show the results achieved during the first year of the project.

2006/01/05 WebALT 2006 First Conference and Exhibition

The first WebALT conference and exhibition is taking place in Eindhoven, at the technical university, on January 5 and 6, 2006. The program includes the invited lectures by Paul de Bra and by Ruedi Seiler, contributed talks and demonstrations of software. WebALT will demonstrate WALTER, the WebALT E-Repository, and WExEd, the exercise editor. WebALT talks will present the metadata design based on CCDs and the multilingual rendering of mathematical problems. The linguistic technology of WebALT will also be shown in a poster.

2005/12/07 Maple T.A. Workshop at Helsinki University

Mika Seppälä will hold a two days hands-on tutorial workshop on Maple T.A. at the University of Helsinki on December 7-8, 2005. Participants will learn how to create Maple T.A. classes and examinations, produce question banks and administer exams. Wireless access to Maple T.A. will be provided to all participants' notebooks. A session of introductory talks is planned. The workshop is by invitation only, send an email to Mika Seppälä if you wish to attend.

2006/01/05 WebALT 2006 Conference and Exhibition

The Web Advanced Learning Conference and Exhibition WebALT2006 will take place at the Technical University of Eindhoven on 05-06 January 2006.

2005/06/16 Open WebALT Seminar

An Open WebALT Seminar will take place at the Main Building of the University of Helsinki, Old side, Room VII (third floor) on June 16, 2005, between 15:00-18:00. Speakers include members of the project's consortium and of the advisory council.

2005/03/31 Open WebALT Seminar

An Open WebALT Seminar will take place at UPC in Barcelona on 31 March 2005, 15:00 - 18:00. Location will be in the Rector's building R, "Sala del Llac" (ground floor, on the left).

2005/03/31 1st Progress Meeting

The 1st WebALT Progress Meeting takes place in Barcelona at UPC, between March 31, April 2, 2005.

2005/03/09 Open WebALT Technical Seminar
